Deal – iPhone 5s Selling for Less on a Permanent Basis as iPhone 6 Launch … – Modern Readers

Deal - iPhone 5s Selling for Less on a Permanent Basis as iPhone 6 Launch Date NearsThe iPhone 6 won’t be out in the market until September, but if you come to think of it, that isn’t that far from now, and there has been no shortage of iPhone 6 rumors teasing everything from the device’s design, its internal specifications, its selling points, and its possible release date or release window. With those rumors still adding up, it looks like one retailer has announced a permanent discount on the iPhone 5s, Apple’s current flagship phone.

This deal takes effect today, as Walmart will now be selling the iPhone 5s at a lower price tag on a permanent basis. Officially, the iPhone 5s costs $199.99 on a two-year contract, but Walmart is now offering the device for just $99 – that’s half the original price, or $100 off what customers would normally have to pay upfront. The deal applies to all carrier-branded versions (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, U.S. Cellular), and if you consider how much you can save on an on-contract iPhone 5s, it just might be difficult for many buyers to choose between the outgoing flagship and the new iPhone 6, which should be debuting little more than two months from now.

It has also been reported that Walmart will be reducing the price of the 32 GB iPhone 5s permanently, but it isn’t sure yet how much this discount would be. The 32 GB iPhone 5s is normally offered on contract for $299.99. The iPhone 5c, however, will also be getting a generous price cut courtesy of Walmart, and it will also be a permanent one. Starting today, customers willing to sign a new two-year carrier contract only have to pay $29 for the iPhone 5c, which was launched last year at a contract price of $99.
