Facebook Home team has reportedly been disbanded by the social network – Maine News

In a Friday report, the New York Times has revealed that social network Facebook had disbanded the team working on its Facebook Home app. Launched a year back, the Facebook Home app basically integrates Facebook into the home screen of Android-based devices.

With the Facebook Home app having been primarily designed to turn the users’ handsets into all Facebook, all the time, the app essentially underscores a Facebook-dominated phone. Since Facebook is reportedly planning to kill the Home app, it is apparent that the company will be giving up on one of its avenues to dominate the users’ handsets.

Hinting at the potential demise of the Facebook Home app, the NY Times report has revealed that the team which worked on the app has been dismantled by the social networking site. However, despite the reported move, the Facebook Home app is still available in the Google Play store.

While a Facebook spokesperson has denied the report’s claims about Facebook likely killing the Facebook Home app, the fact is that Facebook had last updated the Facebook Home app way back in January this year; and there apparently is no update planned for the future.

Nonetheless, the Facebook spokesperson said: “There is a team working on Home and the experience is still supported and available in the Google Play store.”
